American Express
In short
American Express offers developers five services under ACE, spanning registering agents, enabling accounts, reading intent, issuing credentials and adding cart context. As of 14 April 2026 the kit was half built: registration and cart context were still in development, and the list of registered agents said Coming soon. What American Express does for this layer
From the vendor's own pages
American Express describes its Agentic Commerce Experiences (ACE) developer kit as five services: Identify for agent registration, Activate for account enablement, Contextualize for intent intelligence, Fulfill for payment credentials and Enhance for cart context. (americanexpress.com) American Express says the Account Enablement, Intent Intelligence and Payment Credentials specifications were available as of 14 Apr 2026, while Agent Registration and Cart Context were still under development. (americanexpress.com, dated 2026-04-14) American Express says its Identify service will ensure that only verified AI agents are authorized to transact on the American Express network. (americanexpress.com) American Express says it will issue tokenized agentic payment credentials only to verified agents and will verify the Card Member's approval of each purchase intent. (americanexpress.com)
Amex Agent Purchase Protection is described as protection for eligible customers from charges caused by AI agent error when a registered agent sends American Express the customer's authenticated purchase intent. (americanexpress.com) American Express says a full list of registered agents will be published "Coming soon", and no list was on the page on 2026-11-05. (americanexpress.com) American Express says Card Members will manage spend controls and active purchase intents for agent transactions in the American Express App. (americanexpress.com)

What American Express does not do
- American Express has not published the Agent Registration specification, so a site cannot yet verify an Amex-registered agent at the door (page read 2026-11-05).
- Amex Agent Purchase Protection covers Card Members' charges; it gives merchants no crawler or bot policy.
Reading notes
Amex's newsroom release and its developer overview are JavaScript pages that a plain fetch cannot read, so the facts come from the company's agentic commerce page.
